Dear Burbank SD 111 Families,
As stated in my update on October 19, we are currently reviewing the learning environment selections for our students and working on the plan for our return to in-person instruction. The teachers and staff are looking forward to having students in the buildings once again, even if it’s just a few half-days a week.
Please keep in mind, we are continuously monitoring the COVID-19 positivity rates in Burbank and our surrounding area and communicating with the Stickney Township Public Health Department on a frequent basis. We’ve also experienced a recent spike in cases amongst the staff in our district. Over the past two weeks, there have been seven confirmed positive cases across six schools, which has resulted in the quarantine of 15 total staff members. Although we are remaining optimistic, positivity rates and confirmed positive cases must be considered when determining a date to resume in-person hybrid instruction.
As always, we will continue to keep our families informed via the district website, social media, and School Messenger.
Dr. Franzy Fleck
