Dear Burbank 111 Families,

The start of the school year is quickly approaching.  Student device pick up information has been posted on each school’s website.  Please follow the schedule and guidelines as determined by your child’s school.  As we prepare to have students and staff back in the buildings there are many changes this year.  There is signage throughout the buildings reminding everyone to wear masks, wash hands and sanitize, and socially distance.  Students will have socially distanced assigned seats and there are markings on the floors and walls to indicate proper distance. Additionally, sanitizer stations have been placed at entrances and key locations throughout all of our buildings. We also have some updates to our Frequently Asked Questions page Updates include clarification on masks and a link to guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health that was released yesterday regarding procedures for students/staff with symptoms, COVID testing, contract tracing, etc.  Updated items are in blue.  As always, we will continue to keep our families informed via the website, social media and School Messenger.

Respectfully,

Dr. Franzy Fleck

Superintendent

Dear Burbank 111 Families:

Last week we sent our families information on the reopening plan, which allows students to participate in the hybrid model or full remote learning.  Learning environment selections for each student must be made by the end of day Thursday, July 30.  Links to the selection form was sent in the email and also posted on the district website in four languages.

As you know we surveyed our families earlier this month regarding their preference for the hybrid model or full remote learning.  We had 1,325 parents take the survey:  67% preferred hybrid and 33% preferred remote learning.  We had 78% of our staff members take the survey: 67% preferred hybrid and 33% preferred remote learning.

We know that many of you have questions about the upcoming school year, so we compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions, which will be updated as needed moving forward.  Please also note that the Illinois State Board of Education released Fall 2020 Learning Recommendations on July 23.

As always, we will continue to keep our families informed via the district website, social media, and School Messenger.

Respectfully,

Dr. Franzy Fleck

Superintendent
