Welcome to Mrs. Schmidt's 5th Grade Class
My name is Mrs. Schmidt and I will be your child's fifth grade teacher this year. Since we will be working together as a team this year, I would like to share with you some information about my background.
I have been teaching in the district for ten years. Prior to coming to Burbank, I have worked in the Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Archdiocese's Schools, and in the Normal, IL School District. I grew up in Burbank and come from a family of teachers. I am married and have two children and three grandchildren.
I am looking forward to an exciting and productive year with your child. Teamwork will be important to help your child be successful this year. Your involvement in your child's learning is important. You, your child, and myself can work together to make this year as successful and productive as possible. I am looking forward to meeting and working together with each child and their parents and making 5th grade in my class both exciting, fun, challenging, and academically stimulating for everyone.
Mission Statement
I will remind myself daily of the importance of my job and why I chose to become a teacher. My students are our future and hope for a better world. It is my job to foster the respect, pride in self, personal growth, and life skills in each student to make that hope for a better world a reality. It is my job to give all my students the skills to meet the challenge of tomorrow.
