In the book D.W.'s Library Card by Marc Brown, D.W. wanted a library card very badly. After D.W. learned to write her full name and got her library card, she looked for her favorite book. She couldn't find it because the book had been checked out by the terrible Tibble Twins. She asked the librarian when it would be back. Ms. Turner, the librarian, told her it would be back next Saturday.
When D.W. was finally able to check the book out, she was afraid that she would ruin the book because it was so old. She wore oven mitts every time she picked it up. She was so afraid of hurting the book, that she didn't even read it! So her brother, Arthur, read it to her. Then D.W. decided to renew the book. - Jesika P., Grade 4
