**Students should read their personal reading books for AT LEAST 30 minutes each night!**

December 2012:

Monday, December 3rd-  Bell Ringer (SSR), Mini-lesson on expository writing and topic selection, writing topics chart (completed in class, lists favorites), purposeful writing topics, share time.

Tuesday, December 4th-  Bell Ringer (discussion of bus riding experiences), WRITING DAY!, "Eccentric on The Bus" (should have been completed in class).

Wednesday, December 5th-  Reading Specialist: Expository handouts from class today; 1. List of what an expository writing paper should include.  2.  1 good writing sample that shows exactly what an "A" paper should look like.  Discussion of how expository writing can have voice without using opinion!

Thursday, December 6th-  Continue working on expository writing samples and choose a topic for the expository paper.  **TOPICS SHOULD BE SELECTED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!**  I will conference with students tomorrow to see what topics they are considering!

Friday, December 7th-  Adding details to expository writing, practice adding details, small group conferences to check for understanding and monitor topic selections.
