First, I would like to thank the Board of Education for providing
me the opportunity to serve as Superintendent
for Burbank School District 111. I was able to
spend much of June meeting with the faculty and
staff and familiarizing myself with the district
and community of Burbank. I can see that
District 111 has great facilities,
dedicated teachers and support staff, motivated
leadership, supportive families and students who
are ready and willing to learn.
Most recently, I served as Superintendent in
Indiana. My experience also includes several
years as Principal at the elementary and junior
high level as well as curriculum coordinator and
classroom teacher. I have a Ph.D. in
Educational Leadership and Administration from
Indiana State University.
I am currently working with our Burbank team to
plan for the upcoming school year. We are
working on building positive relationships with
the teachers’ and custodial unions. Curriculum
is currently being aligned to the Common Core as
outlined by the State of Illinois. We are
meeting with the special services faculty in
order to find the most effective and efficient
ways to meet the needs of all students. The
Technology Department is making great
improvements to the main infrastructure as well
as piloting 21st Century classrooms. District
111 has also recently contracted with Energy
Systems Group for performance contracting which
will allow us to make building improvements that
will save energy and money.
There are many challenges that lie ahead with
the upcoming school year, but I believe that a
collaborative approach is the best method to
address those challenges. I look forward to
working with the board, staff, students,
parents, and community members in order to
fulfill the mission of Burbank School District
111.
Respectfully,

Dr. Franzy Fleck
